Ok..here's a genetics pop quiz!!!
If the silky gene is recessive and you breed a silky feathered Ameraucana to a smooth feathered bird what is the percentage of silky feathered babies? Is it going to be 50% like when breeding frizzles(smooth to frizzle)??? And I found an old post from someone that had an ooops! happen and she ended up with silky and Ameraucana cross but they were FLUFFY but not SILKY. Soooo if you bred one of these crosses(that carried the recessive silky gene) to another carrying the same recessive silky gene would you ever produce a full fledged silky feathered bird? But I guess having a "smooth feathered...I call Fluffy) silky Ameraucana mix bird and breeding that bird to a silky feathered Ameraucana would increase your % of getting silky feathered birds??? WOW!!! I feel confused and tounge tied all of a sudden!
