Here is the bit about what you were asking about the rumpless silkie feathered blue feather color bird.

If I could make it giant sized letters maybe it wouldnt be missed

According to Prado and Latcham, the Araucana originated from a blue Silkie plumaged, black skinned and rumpless fowl which layed blue eggs.


So o see if I can gleen any more out about these 2 south american experts and thier writings about this bird.

this is the book on the bird very old text but I dont know if there is a translation from spanish version. almost everything I looked at needs a translation.

I also see no proof that there is absolutly something wrong with the bird or abstracts to the point, this is cropped up in here.

I don't think the thread is derailing, and find the information quite interesting. The BYC forum has many threads that do get side-tracked from time to time. Most don't find that to be a problem.

In this case, I find aveca's information quite informative and interesting, and asked her to continue posting. You should be mindful of that, and just skip over the posts you don't want to read or don't care about. You don't need to comment about them or decide if the post is, "on topic." Ive said at least three times Im not looking to be correct, Just pointing out something, just a possiblibty nothing more... from someone (me) who loves to study prehistory and it jumped right out at me.

There are people out there trying with everything they have to string peices of DNA together to get a glimpse at what an extinct animal looked like and somehow it might and Im going to say again M I G H T have occured by accident in somones back yard.

If you think they are just terrible, then keep them as pets and dont do anything more and stop breeding.. I personnaly think they are great ..and someone might even take it to a bigger level and get them back to the origional blue feather described by the scientists above . I put the book name in here somewhere most versions are spanish so finding more on the reading has been tough the history of the pacific


And someone said its way off topic, no it isnt really the opening page says whats wrong with thier feathers? alice propsed something I proposed something else.

What a fascinating thread. This testiness here at this point is a little dissapointing. Sounds like alot of energy and passion is going into this new breed right from the start which is good, right?

Can I go back to the wrong-feathered bird topic again and ask how many of these birds actually exist at this point? Do they have an official name? I don't have an incubator yet but would like to stay informed when eggs are available in the future or how to be put on the waiting list of someone breeding them.

Is there an official name? I would recommend a name that is altogether new and does not involve the name of either breed so that they are considered something altogether new.

I agree this is completly unexpected bird that appears to be breeding true..

A name would be appropirate. Something complelty new and possibly very old. I cant get enough of them.

I have always been a huge fan of the breed. But there are so many off shoots ..

The EEs the ameruacana , the aruacana , rumpless, tailed, green eggers blue eggers , tufts, beards, Still leaves me with the question which came first ....

By the way what color are the eggs of this particual group of birds?

forgive my spelling , its a breed I love and have thought about a lot but there are so many different strains.

Did onthespot ever get one to hatch? I know she "thought" she had one with normal feathers, but that it was another egg and not these birds.

I'm still totally fascinated with these birds. I don't care what they are, how it happened, etc............I just like them and want to see more via this thread.

Yeah, me too!!!! I have 5 eggs incubating. I am trying to think negative (LOL) No....they won't hatch..... then if they don't I won't be so heartsore.
I have a broody working on them.
