What's your silliest duck story?!

Our little Elfie was always behind, developmentally, the first year or so. She grew slower than everyone else, feathered in later, and it seemed to take her quite some time to get with the program. She missed out on treats because by the time she realized we were all having treats, everyone else had eaten them.

Fast forward. These days, you would not be able to pick her out from the crowd, because she has caught up and in some ways, passed the rest of the runners. Once I caught her Sumo wrestling with one of the new buffs, who outweighed her by a pound and a half.

Back to the early days. Sometimes, as I sat watching the ducks, I would see Elfie taking a mouthful of food, trotting over to the swim pan, taking a drink trotting back to the food pan . . . for about a half an hour. Back and forth, back and forth. She seemed happy, purposeful, on a very important mission. In a way it was breathtaking. Like watching the same scene over and over (groundhog day?).

That's how my ducks eat too, lol. Mouthful of food, sip of water: repeat about 10 times.

I have an Indian Runner duck who hasn't been in the house for about 6 months. I brought her in so she could swim in the tub, since in the winter she doesn't have a pool. When she got done, I put her on the floor to dry off. She started walking down the hall into my room, where she grew up! My poor runner!! I now started bringing her inside more:)

The first couple of times that I put feederfish in the duck's kiddie pool, TreeTrunks was the only duck who didn't understand that even though her feet are the same color, they are NOT fish.
Multiple times I'd watch her strike down, catch her foot and try to yank it up. She'd then fall over again and again. Eventually she gave up and just chased the other two ducks around while they chased the fish!

I think this story made me laugh the most! Hilarious!

Really not funny though, poor little dear.

naw... this happened to my Muscovy ducklings when they were still swimming in a fried rice container (yup, they were that small!), I put about 3 feeder fish in the container and little Daffy started nibbling at anything that moved (she had to be quick before he brother ate them all), so she would peck at her toes, then her brothers, then her brother would get annoyed and move his feet, so she would just follow him around while he was following the fish. After a while I fealt sorry for Daffy in that she didn't get any fish, so I started catching some for her and holding them between my fingers for her, after a while she learnt that my fingers meant fish, so I figured I could use this to teach her to catch fish herself, so when I put fish in the container I would point to where they were, she still didn't catch any fish because she was too busy trying to catch my fingers!
