Whenever hobbyist become involved in ...fish, birds, horses, dogs, cows, cats you name it, the people who write the standards usually have a vested interest in what the critter should look like.
Changing form or color standards means finding a group of hobbyists willing to develop a new standard and enter them in enough numbers to justify another class, which is very hard to do over a shot period of time.

So back to the fluff ball ... how to get rid of it.
Oh ... the keepers of the standards don't have a clue but someone decided it didn't fit the breed.

Here are my 2 week old wheaten marans I hatched from fitz eggs and then at the bottom the 3 that just hatched OH NO, they have white fluff!!!
