Wheaten and Blue wheaten Marans Discussion Thread

Randy I'm using those LED rope lights and my 7 month old Wheatens are just starting to lay 2 eggs in 2 days from 4 pullets. I use a timer and set it for 6hrs after dusk mine just roost under the lights they were easy to put up and cheap to run I hope they last as they were made for outdoor use. I tried them because my turkeys broke their light bulbs trying to fly around at night what party animals....

Don't feel alone Randy. I haven't gotten one Marans egg in two weeks now! They came out of molt, and started to lay, but now with the shorter days and this crazy warm weather, they have all quit! On the other hand, my Silkies started laying somewhat early for the breed. Two or three of them are laying now at 24 weeks...

thats why years ago i picked one color (wheaten) and tje most stable colors with least faults
