When feeding I noticed that 2 of my Bantam chicks were kinda off by themselves but did finally come to eat. After feeding everyone I went back to check them and picked 1 up and felt her, she had eaten and was acting better, so I put her back and reminded myself to check them in morning. They were fine next morning, so I checked them again last night and they still are acting like they don't feel good. They will eat/drink then go off by themselves and sleep. I got them out and 1 chick is wheezing. I decided to bring them in and put them in a cage in the house. I put Teramiacin (spelling?) in their water and fresh food. I just switched them to layer 2 days ago as they are 3 months old. Should I put them back on chick starter? Is there anything else I should do? I checked on them and they are sleeping but I can hear rasping/wheezing while they sleep.

They should still be on chick starter till they are old enough to lay, layer has too much calcium in it and can hurt their bones. Sounds like they may have a cold, listen to their lungs under a wing. Does it sound crackely? If so prob. have an infection going on. Do they have a water nose, eyes? Are they szeezing? Terryimician may not be enough, if their is no improvement soon, I'd up it to another med. like Tylan, LA-200 or so. If no crackel, than it may just be a cold. I'd give Vit/Electrolites, keep um eating/drinking.

Yes, it sounds crackely, no water nose or eyes, yes they are sneezing.

I have Tylan 50, injectable. How much and how do I give it?

Thanks

You said they are 3 months old, so I give my bantams 1/4 to 1/2 cc of tylan in the thigh for 2- 3 days. I take a leg and push up the muscle in the thigh and poke the fattest part of it. Do whatever you feel more comfortable with. Some use the breast or back skin of neck. If you hit a thin area sometimes they will limp for a little while, then get over it.
