My chicks are 8-9 weeks old now. They’re outgrowing their cage in our coop. The chicks are separated from the rest of the girls but it’s getting tight! I’m wondering how much longer they need to be separate? Or if they can go together now. Also wondering about the feeding situation! Thanks!

Hi there, they are wayyyy over due to go by the big girls. Introduce them, by putting them into a dog cage, etc, and put the cage, etc into the run. Have the chicks locked in there, and they will get used to eachother. Hope this helps. Have any futher questions?? Could I see pictures of the chickens??

Oh, I just saw that they are already together, just seperate. They should be JUST fine together. Make sure respond to my questions before (above)...

How long have they been in line of sight of each other? If they've seen each other for a week or two, you can try letting the chicks out at a time when you're available to supervise, and see how things go. Ideally you'll want to have multiple sources of food spread out, to minimize conflict over food, as well as clutter to allow chicks to hide if needed.

What's the issue with the feed? Do you mean what to feed? When I have chicks I feed chicks and adults the same thing. Either all flock type feed or grower is suitable for all ages.

I will get pictures soon! Yes they’re just separated with a dog pen. I was more worried about if they could eat the same food! Our big girls are on layer pellets!

Thank you!! They’ve been together for at least two weeks now! My main worry was that they could have the same feed! The little girls are on half starter half grower. And the big girls are on layer. I thought that they had to go starter-grower-layer but I’m starting to think that’s not necessary from what I’ve read on here!

I integrate my chicks around 21-24 days old, if it’s sunny out (don’t like to do it if a lot of rain).

Every one eats flock raiser.
