When Can You Give Chicks Bugs/Table Food, Etc.?

Ya its right below Lake Powell dam a few miles down.

Oh that would be nice always liked that view nice area it has been a few years scenes I have been up in that area but I can't for get the first time back in the late 1970's and I got in trouble for fishing off the dam and it was just before the sun came up and this old man came out in a truck as I was on the East end and he was mad as all get out and then something about if I was even smart enough to read the sign and I just looked at him and if I could read I would not have had to join the Army for a job well anyway I was invited to a tour of the inside of the dam and I wound up not leaving till after lunch but it is a great dam and a lot of nice places to go fishing below it for sure ....

Sorry about leaving as I have to check on the chickens and the one coop the chickens drank 5 gallons already so I had to fill it up and only 18 chickens in that one wow I hope they can make it through the heat but today is cooler as it is only 109 F today ......

Ya it is beautiful down there, it is 112 F here today i have a 3.5 gallon waterer for my girls and usually lasts them a day or so but there only three weeks old so lol.

So sorry I had customer come by yesterday who wound up getting the chicks I was getting ready to toss for one reason or another but they were free to her as she hasn't figure out how to build a cage yet to keep the chicks safe just more into drinking and being stupid but it also makes it easer on m as I don't have to do the work of euthanizing them myself and one was nice but she got to close tone of he geese and the goose picked her up by the leg and hurt the knee so she will never walk right again the others were little things like a bent toe but she did leave me several I just don't think look right in the coloring and I do like my Russian Orloff's to look right or I just don't feel very good about selling them or raising them till pullets and the roosters I already have seven that are 30 week old and filling out but I think that is enough for now so them extra also I need to put down and are off to the side for now .....

# gallons of water for chicks a day is about right I know I just got me a new 5 gallon waterier Friday and set it out for the geese as they keep getting in the water tubs so it is dirty and I also did not want to waste the Electrolyte in swimming water so now the geese are a little more lively the last couple of days do to the new waterier funny how little things like that make a big difference so I think I am going to have to get me more of them tis summer did not realize how much energy and water I can save having them spread around the yard and the can now also keep the others away from the swimming area funny birds ......

  • gander007 lol its ok if you have any chicks you want to get rid of you can send them my way as long as there not sickly that is lol. I purchased another waterier from Murray Mcmurrays its a 5 gallon galvanized waterier that i will be keeping inside the coop for my girls and the 3.5 gallon will be in the run for them. That is the same reason i got rid of my ducks they made to much of a mess and couldnt stand smelling that water everyday i changed it lol, chickens are cleaner in my opinion lol.

@Papas Chickens, oh yes chickens are cleaner but my geese are like a door bell and people tend to stand outside he gate instead of testing them ..

Just a few of them two weeks ago ad yes the goslings are twice that size already ...

They grow fast but consume feed big time ....

This was back in June .....
