When did your chickens begin laying eggs?

My flock of 7 is 14 weeks old. My guess is my brown leghorn will be first to lay her crop has always been redder than the rest, but who knows the sex link likely early too

I have 3 welsummers 3 Barred rocks 1 black sex link 1 Red sex link and 2 gold sex link and they are all 20-21 weeks old but only 3 of them are laying.

5 silver laced Wyandotte 4 started laying last week at 20 weeks. We have been getting 2 to 4 eggs daily from them. I have 4 easter eggers one has been very anxiously wandering in and out of nests and any small space she can cram herself in today 20 weeks, 4 buff orpingtons 20 weeks 2 with red combs no other signs, 4 black Australorp 20 weeks 2 with very large combs/wattles started to get noisy and check out nesting boxes..

I'm wondering the same thing about when eggs will start? I have four hens (three ISA Browns & 1 Australorp) that are 17 weeks old and one Buff Orpington that is 20+ weeks and we have not gotten any eggs. When can I expect them? Been leaving them in the pen area until 11 or 12 and then they are free range. Could they be laying in the woods in the afternoon?

The ISA Browns, any time now. The others 22/26 weeks. Yes they can lay anytime of the day. Most of my Golden Comets lay by 9 a.m. One by noon, the fifth anytime. Sometimes I find 5 eggs by nine.
I would keep an eye on your ISA Browns. GC

Does anyone know the estimated time for marans to start laying? I have a 10 week old pullet, I've heard (from different sources with different breeds, marans not mentioned) chickens lay at 15-17 weeks, 16-20 weeks, and 19-22 weeks. Will someone please make this a little less confusing for me?

First egg depends on a lot of factors: Breed. The time of year in which she is approaching sexual maturity as that relates to hours of day light. Amount of protein and other nutrition in the diet. And finally, my own testimonial that providing fermented feed results in earlier POL. I have repeatedly noted that my birds start laying several weeks earlier than those of several of my friends. These friends live close by, get their feed from the same feed stores, provide the same free range/run opportunities. We have either picked up chicks of same breed from same store on the same day, or I have provided hatchlings from my incubator to these friends. The only difference between my flock and theirs is that I provide fermented feed, and they use dry feed. I also brood chicks with a heating pad, while they use heat lamps, but I highly doubt that enters the picture! If any thing, heat lamp birds should lay earlier than heat pad birds b/c the 24/7 lighting encourages 24/7 eating!

My EE gals typically start laying at 16.5 weeks.

WE GOT EGGS! Woke up this morning to a medium egg and the cutest little egg I have ever seen!!!! Not using nesting boxes but at least they are not in the woods. lol
