When did your chickens begin laying eggs?

One of my barred rocks didn't begin laying until 8 months, she was my latest. My australorp was laying at 4.5 months and she was my earliest.

I have 3 ISA brown two BSL a RIR and two barred rocks.


If I hadn't seen her in the nest every day I would of never belived it but one of the barred rocks is my first layer.

My hens began some around age twenty weeks, and my latest layer was a Dutch Bantam, who started weeks after the others had been laying for a while.

We got our first eggs today! 2 by the same girl. However, one of them got crushed

As of today I have one that's been laying for a week. A Black Austrolorp, 26 wks old. I have another that same age not laying yet.

There are also 2 Easter Eggers, 24 wks old not laying yet.

Mine are coming up on 20 weeks and nothing yet. Australorp, Langshan, EE's, CC Legbar, Brahma, Faverolles and SL Wyandotte, and Mystery White. Mystery White looks like a full grown hen for Petes sake!!! Australorp and Langshan look really ready, if that Langshan is not a cockerel LOL.
This is Mystery White last week, this week her comb and wattles are bright red and have plumped right up...cmon girl..time to pay the rent!!

Can you show me a photo of your australorp? I wanna see her comb and wattles to compare to mine..

1 Austrolorp laying for 2 weeks now. Started @ 26 weeks old.
1 Easter Egger started 3 days ago. She's 25 weeks old.

My Austrolorp gave me eggs consistently 4 days on, 2 off, and now NO EGGS from her for 5 days. Maybe beginning to molt, weather changes...I don't know but she's eating very well, alert and seems fine.

This happened to our friend's EE one time. She had been laying for about a year straight then stopped all of a sudden. Then after a couple months she started again. I don't think yours will stop laying or not lay for a long period of time. She is still quite young, so she might be having some hormonal changes
