When did your chickens begin laying eggs?

17 weeks I started getting 1 Maran laying 18 weeks she has company. Her sister.. but I have 15 more hens to go plus I have 16 more a month behind them. We will see how it all goes. It's very exciting for sure. I always feel blessed. I have 6 older hens that have been giving me 1-6 eggs so I am very excited to bring in the new.

I have 5 barred rocks that are 15 weeks. We are no where close to eggs yet! I am figuring I have at least another month or two.

I have 12 week old ISA Browns. Their combs have started turning more red over the past few days. Does this mean they're going to start laying soon, or is it still a month or 2? I've heard if they start laying too early it can be bad for their long term health. I've given them fermented feed right from the start.

1 of my chicks started laying at 20 weeks, the next day I got 2 eggs the next 3 days I only got 3 then by the time my first chick started laying it took 7 days to get 6 out of 6 chicks. It was very exciting to see my first egg after what seemed like a year from the time I got them.

Got our first egg yesterday. 17.5 weeks old.

Have 3 ISA Browns
2 black sex link
2 barred rocks
1 Rhode Island

Can't be sure but my guess is it's either an ISA or BSL

Glad to hear that our hens aren't the only ones missing the message about laying. We have 1 Wyandotte and 1 Buff Orpington that are laying but the other 4 are just cheerleaders. They are all 24 weeks and my husband has threatened to send the non-layers to the stewpot if we don't see eggs from them soon. We have no rooster and one neighbor told us that was the reason for low egg production. Is that true?

Congrats!
Thats how I felt. My 8 year old granddaughter has been helping me raise these 6 baby chicks and has been patently waiting for the eggs just like me and one day she went in the coop and yelled out"Grandma there is a egg in the nesting box and it's real and I am not kidding" I literally screamed and said really O my god.

No that is not true, my husband said the same thing they better lay soon and sure enough they did in there own time. But a chicken will lay an egg every day rooster or not.
A Rooster would just be needed to fertilize the eggs so you have little one's
