When do cockerels start crowing?

BTW, my cockerel chick didn't make any attempts when he could see me so the first time I heard him crow, it was a full syllable crow at full volume, around 14 weeks old. I knew he was male but entirely missed the squeaky gate stage.

My beautiful little boy started this week, at 11 weeks (approx) old. Sounded great right off the bat, now my alarm clock consists of his dad going off at 4.45am followed by him soon after. I love it, I know all is well with my world!

I went outside one morning a little before 6 AM, & yes I was hearing one of the strangest sounds ever. It was not a cock a doodle more like something that was almost painful as I walked to the coop he was trying so I did what I thought was right I tried to teach him how, I mean shucks we did not come out of the womb tossing a ball around & keeping score. By the way he is 8 weeks

I think my silkie is a cockerel and is about 10 weeks old. I may have heard what I think to be a try to crow, sounded crazy... I was hoping he was a she but I’m thinking he is a he

How old are they? Cockerels can attempt crowing at 4-6 months.
It sounds really weird, like they're being strangled.

In our case, like a New Year’s cornet.
