When do doves start laying eggs?

I have love doves and I was wondering when they start laying eggs and making nests and what I should do to put in the dove hutch so they could make a nest. I put a small medicine box in there with hay and sawdust. The box is big enough for her to lay in and is very easy to get into for her.

Doves start laying at about 6 months of age +- Pine needles is a material they like as well for nesting material. . I put a small medicine box in there with hay and sawdust. The box is big enough for her to lay in and is very easy to get into for her.

As long as the box does not have a tendency to tip while she is getting in or out I think you should be all right. I personally use a dog bowl approximately 10"in diameter for a nest.
