When do they stop laying "pullet" eggs?

Congrats to all of you with first eggs!! I expect small eggs at first that will gradually get bigger. I don't care if they're pidgeon size, I'm just excited for my girls to start laying!!

I have decided to be more grown up and not check for eggs as often. I've cut it back to 20 times a day from around 22 times. LOL

They will get gradually bigger over the next few months. With my Barred Rock, she was laying large eggs, then last winter she molted and after her molt, the eggs are jumbo sized.

And when you quit looking, then and only then will you have an egg.

And if you think you get out of checking on them so much after they start laying, think again. I have my first broody and I'm out there every few hours checking on her. Now it appears her sister wants in on the broody action too. (Both these girls are only 7 months old)

I got a considerably bigger egg withing first 2 weeks, only one though, and it turned out to be a double-yolker.

Then it went back to pullet size.

I've heard that when they are stressed (like after moving to a new home) they may stop laying for a while. I'm sure it will start again soon!

I wish my red sexlinks would lay a big egg. After more than a month of laying now they are just starting to hit the USDA large weight once in a while. My RIW's are laying the ginormous eggs of 70 grams and more...daily. And everyone is the same age.
