When does a cockerel crow?

I have been raising chickens for three years. We had a hatch (natural, one of the hens went broody) and had five cockerels and four pullets from the hatch. One of the little cockerels starting making scratchy, funny little crowing sounds at about a month old. I thought he started early because he was within hearing distance of our rooster. I bought three straight run Americaunas at TSC three weeks ago, hoping I was picking pullets. I heard a funny sound coming from the chicks yesterday and went to investigate. I watched for a few minutes and then saw one of them stretch out its neck, lift its head and make that funny sound. I believe I have spotted a cockerel that is trying to crow at three weeks.

Gosh, I hope that mine don't start crowing anytime soon. We have 10 straight-run chicks (RIR, BR, and Red Star). We have an idea that about half are roos, but no confirmation. We were hoping to get a few more growing months out of them :)
