When should I put a safety hole in a call duck egg?

So far nutmeg needs to hatch, and thats all 4 eggs from my first group! First time hatching call duck eggs and so far its gone really smoothly, I hope it goes the same for my other 2 groups! I have a egg that goes into lockdown in 1 day and I dont know the color because the seller on ebay didn't specify, and another group of snowy call duck eggs that hatch in like a week!

We are always here if you need any assistance!

Though you did so well with these that I think you'll probably do just fine. Now that you're a Call Duck owner, you'll have to join our Duck thread. I'll post a link. 😁

I joined! Also, you think its a good idea to feed them duckweed? I also am quite deep into the aquarium hobby and I keep many planted tanks and I have duckweed, in the wild its what they eat, just wanted to know if you know if thats a bad/good idea to feed them that as a treat although if you dont know then theres no point in risking it just in case it isn't the best because theres also other things I could be feeding them as kinda a treat once they get a little older!

Only a non-medicated starter (with added nutritional yeast) for now. When they get older they would probably love it in their water source for a treat, though!

All 4 ducklings have hatched and they all are doing great! I will move penciled in a little while, but white is really tired and nutmeg only recently hatched, once they all dry off I will send lots of pictures!

They probably won't eat and drink much the first 24 hours or so..that's what the yolk is for.
I wouldn't even bother with the sugar water unless one seems especially weak.
I use nutri drench for that so I can't really advise on the sugar water.
I don't worry much till the next morning and then I'll dip the end of their bill in the water and show them food by tapping my finger back and forth from the food to water.. and offer the crumbles stuck to my finger to them. Normally they will peck at it and get the idea.
