WHEN TO HELP? A real test of patience!

If he's dried out, no problem. Go ahead and move him. If he is still damp, just make sure he doesn't get a chill when you move him. he will finish drying in the brooder.

If you don't have electrolytes, just dissolve a little sugar in the water. That's pure energy. I've also used hummingbird liquid if you have that.

He is not a well chick. He seems to have leg problems, he can't stand and puts his weight on his hocks. He also makes a clicking sound when he is breathing.

This is my first hatch, and certainly hasn't been an easy one. First egg pipped, I was so excited for it to hatch, but it stayed in 24 hours before it started zipping. Next egg, same thing. Worrisome me thought it died, but lo and behold it started zipping. I am going through it again right now. The chick pipped the wrong end externally, but I left it and now it is zipping. It is a tough call to make, but thus far I play the waiting game.
