When to move babies out to coop.

I have six 4 1/2 week old hybrid layers who have been in the coop for 2 weeks I think. The coop stays at about 40 to 50F with the sun during the day and a heat lamp at night (its freezing most nights now). I've been raising the lamp the past few days and will shut it off in a week or so, that way they'll feather out better for winter. I think for chicks this time of year, they adapt better if the temp. drops quicker (someone correct me if I'm wrong). They have lots of shavings and dry grass to snuggle in. I feel cold for them - but them seem just fine!

PureSnowChic; see if you have room in your electrical panel distribution box. You can get a "cheap" 15amp circuit breaker for the panel box, and some outdoor romex ran out to the coop.
