Sorry but I needed a place to vent! My dumb xxx son thinks its okay to date his younger brothers first true love! Who cheated on him with his best friend! Mind you this is also his sisters best friend! Then today decides to tell Mom that hes not coming to our Anniversary party tonight cuz they already made plans and anyways "Its not like I havent been there for the last 15!" My point being whose to say we will both live to see another? Life isnt promised...and he should know considering his gma was just diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer! My mom is also in bad health and I suffered a minor stroke in the last year! I am hurt that my son isnt man enough to say "Sorry but I have to go to my parents...you are welcome to come but I at least should make an appearancem I wrong? I hope not or these tears are for nothing!

I'm confused.. is there a love triangle going on here?

He should know better than to skip your party..
He's 15. A teen. Your the parent. He lives under your house and rules. Tie him up and make him attend the party!

If hes 15 dont let him do what he wants.... if hes living under your roof..he follows YOUR rules..period.

If it is any consolation, they do grow up. How old is the son? My son never really went through that 'selfish' stage but my friends' sons did. They grew out of it and different ages between 17 and 25.

You can only talk to him and try to make it obvious to him that family things need to be placed higher on the priority list and explain it to him as you have us.

Good luck.

Edit: 24 years old...put a boot in his butt and send him out on his own for a bit...he will grow up.

If someone called me a dumb xxx I don't think I would change my plans to go to their party either.

well, that is just silly. someone needs to kick him out and make him become a man and let him sink or swim! at that age, he is far too old to be playing kids games at his families expense.

Oh, I guess the 'Its not like I havent been there for the last 15!' threw me off.

I think thats why they call them ex's though. And if she cheated on your younger son, doesn't sound like it would last too horribly long anyway.
