Where are my eggs? *warning graphic whining and fit pitching*

I have laying hens but NOOOOO. Everyone is on strike.

So, I guess I half way feel your pain. Maybe you need to go in there and sweet talk them?

I swear I have one pullet who is asking the same thing. My other 3 are laying, I saw her get in the nest and sit on one for a while, then got up, and looked so sad that it wasn't hers. Do I have a broody in the making? I hope not as I have no roo. But I'm sure I could find a few kind people here with fertile eggs for her. It WILL happen soon, and then you'll be like me and ready for more babies just to start the whole process over again.
PS.......just don't tell the DH I plan on slipping in the fertile eggs under his nose.

While you are waiting for eggs come over and join us in making some cheese. Once you perfect the cheese and then get eggs think of the incredible omlettes and custards and fritattas and other yummy things you can make to use up all of those fabulous eggs you will be getting daily.

Ohhh, how I feel your pain!! I have 15 Buff hens( 2 roos)...will be 21 weeks this weekend....NOTHING!! I also have 2 Langshans ( well 4 but 2 hens)....one Dominique hen...and a pair of Pheonix....All will be 21 weeks this weekend! I have 3 cornish X....21 weeks, and THEY ARE LAYING! UGH!! They are not supposed to be laying....but have outdone my " layers" Sigh.....I want eggs TOO!!!

cornish cross can live that long? then how come everyone has been saying that they are breed to only live at most 2 months?!

I got my first egg today! Actually I think I must have gotten the pre egg a few days ago because I found stuff that looked like it could have been eggs. I wasn't expecting even that for another couple of weeks. My oldest is a barred rock and I swear she's only about 16 weeks. We got her at Easter and she may have been a full week old but no more then a week. Boy is the egg small. I noticed about 5 days ago that she's all the sudden really lovey and she wants me to pet her and hold her. Then she lies flat against the ground and sticks her tail feathers up when I do pet her. She didn't really like to be loved or cuddled before, but now she wants my full attention. The egg is smaller then a golf ball but it's beautiful. I can't wait to brag at work a little tomorrow.

I'm wanting eggs too!! I'm sure there's a lot of us who do!! I have 11 hens and 3 roos and they are all 16 1/2 weeks old.
Between 18 and 22 weeks is when chickens will begin laying?? Is that about right?
I guess it's a very good idea for me to get the next boxes into the coop ASAP, and make it all pretty for them to lay their first eggs in!

We just finished the nest box last night, in anticipation of eggs. My RIR is showning physical signs of maturity, but the others still look like little girls. They're almost 17 weeks.

I'll be out of town for four days the week they turn 20 weeks. (If it weren't for an AWESOME horse event, I'd be exceedingly bummed out.) I fully expect that all of the girls will produce their first eggs while I'm gone.

Hubby and kids will have to keep me posted.
