Where did they come from???

Eh...no one at the local AG store knew what horizontal nipples were...they looked at me like I had 3 heads. All they had available were the ones with cups. They keyed a few things into the computer and ordered them for me. Order came in...they called me...I drove to store...looked at them...pfft...same thing the store carried...the one with the cups. I was frustrated and just bought the dang things figuring I'll come up with something. So.....in my infinite wisdom, I removed the cups and tried just using the little nipple things as is...yes, they are yellow. lol

I can NOT find those square, red, horizontal nipples at TSC, nor the other local AG store that I go to. I don't know...

they are hard to find local.. put the cups back on for now. Those are meant to work with the cups

Well, my @jthornton inspired feeder is complete! Had to get the bf to help with the flippy roof though. I don't understand carpentry plans so I just look at pictures and wing it. Lol. The attaching of the roof had me stumped...

I used an old plastic cutting board for the base. In my little head, the cutting board won't rot. :D

It holds about 25 lbs of feed. (Dumped a half bag into it)

Of course...you build it...and they don't go anywhere near it. (cue tumbleweed and crickets)

Tossed a little scratch on the edge and a few kernels on the inside...and waited. The no-fear babies scope it out first. King...maintains a safe distance...

The kids school the parents...

The parents, acting all "woe is us" are scratching for feed remnants from the ground where the hanging feeder used to be... They are soooo dramatic...

I'm convinced there is nothing they can't perch on... :lau

My nipple drinker in the brooder has an "anit-perch" wire on it... One day I walk out to check on them and wa la... got 10 birds perched on the wire....

I made a covered perch for the turkeys. basically an X with perches going up to the top and pvc hoops with a tarp. They broke the pvc perching on it.

Lol...glad I'm not the only one! All the trouble I went through with that lid....I should of just built it flat. I have a little broom that I use to sweep off every other flat surface.

Actually on a slant has its advantages. It keep most of the chickens from parking there long term, and the gumdrops roll to the lower level.
