We recently had two Roeuns hatch out nests within 2 days of each other and are co- mothering. We had two white ducklings hatch out of a nest of Roeuns last year and this year we have one yellow(assuming to eventually turn white) and a complete black duckling too. How does this happen when the only drakes we have are Rouens and had visiting wood ducks this spring on our pond.
Can we assume it’s the same Rouen female that hatched the two yellow ducklings last year that hatched the yellow one this year? Not sure which of the two nests the black one came from.
