Where did you get your chickens' names

My first two the kids at school named. I added the last names because I am a die hard Red Sox fan.

Tom Brunanski was an EE pullet
Jerry Remy was a Black/White Leghorn mix cockerel.

My second two, my son named.
Obelisk the Tormentor is a Black/White Leghorn mix hen.
Slifer the Sky Dragon was a Light Brahma/Leghorn mix hen that crowed.

My newest addition I actually got to name!!

Miss MoneyPenny is a Coppery coloured Silkie/Cochin mix bantam hen.
I've also named a couple of other member's birdies.
Miss Shyanne Puff was a white silkie who liked to sort of hide.
Beaker was a partridge silkie with a crest that stood up and he reminded me of the Muppet by that name.

I'm from Queens NY, so of course my 3 Dominiques are named Joey, DeeDee and Johnny Ramone. My 2 orpingtons are Jimmy the Beak and Fat Tony. The silkies are straight run, so they're Greg, Peter, Bobby, Marsha, Jan and Cindy.

Funny thread.
Special K - my Barred Rock rooster. He came with a blue splotch painted on his head as a chick. This was during the NCAA basketball tournament in which Duke was defeated in an early round. My neighbor, who is a huge Duke fan, saw him and opined that Duke had fired Coach K because of the loss and he was now probably working at the hatchery and painting blue splotches on all the chicks. We all laughed and the name stuck.

Rocky is my old english game bird rooster, named because hubby thought he acted so tough, like Rocky Balboa
Buffy is the Buff Orphington hen, Rosie is the RIR hen, Dom is the dominique rooster, Josie is the hen that matches Dom, LulaBelle looks like Josie( except she is tan and white instead of black and white like Dom and Josie, not sure how Josie and LulaBelle got their names) Then we have a red sex link hen named Ruth. Claude is the other rooster, he is really pretty some kind of game bird, kinda orange and black colored with green tail feathers. (Rocky is a banty, black white and green tail feathers). We brought Claude home because he is looks so handsome and the other roosters were picking on him. I figured that Rocky would be afraid of the other chickens, since he had never been around any before, but he really surprised us, poor Claude is afraid of Rocky. Rocky is probably 3 times smaller than Claude, Dom gets along with everybody so far.
Well ok nobody gets along with the guineas, but that is another story:rolleyes:.
Claude, Rosie and Buff stay together most of the time, and the other 5 stay together, it's like having 2 flocks.

I've always known that my 4.6 acre "farmette" was a gift from God. And I started out with Jacob sheep. So my farm is "Jacob's Reward" taken from Genesis chapter 30.

All the animals that have come here without names (or with names I could change easily) have gotten Bible names. I have:

Adult layers, BR & RIR: Mary and Martha
3-month old Ameraucanas: Rachael and Leah
3-month old BRs: well, all 5 look alike, but when they were babies, I could pick one out, and I called her Deborah.
3-month old Red something: Lydia, though my daughter calls her Rhodie

The 24 meat Delawares won't get names

My sheep are Thomas and Israel, and the one alpaca I got to name is Solomon. (The other three names were out of my control: Moonstruck, Pinto and Gizmo.)

The donkeys are Moses and Aaron.

They are all prim and proper ladies, after all!

I looked through the baby name books and went to baby name websites to get our names. The kids name them things like "Little Sacares" and "Fuzzy" while I choose names like Juliet, Isabella, Jubilee, Jedediah, Stella, Stash(those two are our Polish)Sadie, Sarah. We have also named them after family memebers like aunts and uncles. I have three little boys so I like to name our hens pretty girlie names that I never got to use!

My sister had 3 RIR hens she named after our Nana and her 2 big sisters: Ruby, Fern & Mabel. I think my Nana was born around 1905. Her family homesteaded in South Dakota long, long ago. You know she raised her share of chickies!!

Love you, Nana in heaven,
