Where do your emus sleep?

Thanks. Our property ends down where you can see the pond. Our neighbor has been maintaining that 1.5 acres for years but we are taking it back and fencing it off as a summer pasture for our donkeys. Prior owners have allowed him to do that but it is making me nervous so I am taking it back.

Emu's can swim?

I keep mine in a 40x40 (or so) pen between my barn and feed room at night. They sleep under some brush in there. I use to let them roam an acre at night and they would sleep in the lowest point they could find (down by the fence) on the acre.

BUT.. since I am now pretty convinced something (most likely a bobcat) wounded one of my emu's necks and i've been having to nurse her for the past 10 days hopeing she lives.... they stay in the pen at night.

They do like to "hide" for sleeping.

Edit: The Emu recovered and 3 days ago we found her dead in her pen, bobcat tracks all around. So the other one is getting locked up at night like the other animals now. So yes, Bobcats can and will kill Emu. I've had the worse luck with them, first a goat, now one of my Emu. I'll never underestimate bobcats again, and they did not care/mind that the pen had flood lights on it and was near the house. Be warned.
