NC was a great place to live...until it became overrun with people. Now it's a s**t hole. Especially in the cities. I don't live in a city but I'm close enough to Raleigh to hate it. In a couple of years I'm moving out were NO ONE is or wants to be just to get away from all these transplants.
Oh, Trisha, you mean all the ones who want to change the character of your home to where they came from ? Pave all the dang gravel country roads so the Caddies don't get scratched? If it was go great, GO BACK!
To quote a friend of mine, "That really frosts my onions!"
I live near downtown because it's close to my job and everything I need. If I didn't live down here, I'd live as far out in the country as I could. We've thought about it, but aren't willing to give up the hour or two a day traffic would cost us.
I would NEVER live in one of those DisneyWorld-ish, planned McMansion communities. They're awful. Ever seen "The Stepford Wives"? Most of the people who live there have no connection to or respect for this community. They just want a 8000 square-feet place to park their SUVs and show off how in debt they are.
OK I guess some people on here don't want foreigners invading their turf... (and that's fair enough)
I'm not really one for liking all the immigrants that were let into my country but I didn't get a choice about that...
I really want to live somewhere that is very rural and where there are hardly any neighbours. I wouldn't mind living in the sticks and living a basic country life.
I don't have a TV, phone line, PC, internet connection at home now... So perhaps I should go and join an amish community? lol But I'm not relious at all so I probably wouldn't fit in there.
I like the sound of new hampshire... Relaxed rules & regulations etc. I come from cornwall in the UK and it is arguably the most rural and laid back part of the country.
I am also contemplating new zealand as an option but I think I would prefer the USA! (You people are so lucky)

It's rediculious what they're doing to my state. They move to the south in search of a peaceful, southern, country setting and end up turning the south into some big development project.
I HATE (!!!!!!!) people who move to the south and then say North Carolinians should be HAPPY that they're here because we couldn't make a dime without them. That they're helping us make money. Well, what the hell do y'all think we did before you moved here. We weren't the starving poor white trash y'all think we were.
I HATE people who move down south and like to pick on my accent. You're in the south dumba$$. This is the way we talk...get over it.
I HATE that every time I go for a ride in the (what used to be) country there's another freakin dag on SUBDIVISION going up.
You know what I do LOVE though. I love that people move to NC thinking they're moving to this wonderfully mild weathered state and then they get hit by 100% humidity...100+ degree weather AND drought. But like the old folks said, "Air conditioning will be the ruin of the south". And ain't that the truth!

There's still some parts of NC that are not completely distroyed...YET. I'm just moving farther out in the country and at least 2 hours from Raleigh.
