This is really interesting. I have noticed some arguing but not as much since like others have said, I don't explore all the threads as much as others do.
I am a *very* sensitive person who does not take arguments between people very well, not to mention flaming directly at me. Specifically if these issues arose from people who I believed were friendly and caring, people who I had liked and looked up to a lot (BYC members).
I am also ashamed to say that sometimes I feel like I need to butt into an argument and 'feed the troll' even though I know I shouldn't. Fortunately I haven't done that yet and don't plan to. I do enjoy watching these 'troll feeders' however, it's very comical and interesting to spectate the pointless argument.
I would never enter an argument, however, between BYC members that I know. I see their posts often, follow them, like their content and learn from their wisdom, even look up to them...and now they are arguing with each other. It surprises and even scares me in a way.
I have not "blocked" or "ignored" anyone yet. I can't think of anyone who has been rude to me specifically, though I can think of one or two people who are just obnoxious and/or rude, most of them newbies who don't post much anyway.
Also @Cyprus for the record, I think you are one of the most mature, truthful, and especially kind people I have ever seen. I'm sure you know that, and you know that's how a lot of people here feel.

Ok sorry my ramble's over, i know i didn't really contribute, just chucking this in here, mostly for subscription purposes :D
:goodpost:

We all make mistakes, but I see no call for such rash behavior. As BYC members we need to live up to our name: community. We are a family, please, let's not turn this site into your everyday social media with cyber bullying. I am so sorry this happened to you @Cyprus, just use that ignore button and be the brave, kind person you are. :hugs And I wouldn't pay too much attention to people who feel the need to tear others down, calling you a child, and not realizing their own immaturity. :D

Yes, curse words are definitely around.
Been there, done that and gone down for it. not proud of it.

I notice, also, that some swear words make it through and others don't and that they don't catch minor changes such as changing a u to a û, ú, ù, ü, ū all get through, or an i to í, î, ī, ï, ì, etc.

They used my full username and called me a child and stupid, a liar and backstabber. And made claims that took seed all unbeknownst to me.
Ignore. Ignore, ignore, ignore. Absolutely no good comes from responding to this isht. Just roll your eyes and keep scrolling. Trust me, I have witnessed MANY internet brawls, and the one making the claims always always always ALWAYS looks worse than the subject of the claims.

A conversation I started and only I had the authority to end (a pm
No one has 'authority' in a pm. No ones owns a conversation. If someone starts talking to/at me and I don't want to deal with them I can and will shut the conversation down. You don't owe anyone your time or response, but no one owes you their time or response either.
I don't care about having my feelings hurt.
I care that the remarks are made in the first place.

One, this entire thread exists because people were mean to you and you don't like it. You very obviously care that your feelings were hurt, and that's perfectly normal. Just own it lol.

Two, you can't control what other people do or say. People can say mean things to us and about us, and very often there is so much subjective to interpretation in the situation it is impossible for someone else to moderate the situation. You can't regulate people into niceness.
Three, and arguably the most important: we do not have a right to be comfortable at all times.

WE DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE COMFORTABLE AT ALL TIMES.

This means that we can be unhappy when someone is doing something, but that person may still have the right to continue the behavior.

that they don't catch minor changes such as changing a u to a û, ú, ù, ü, ū all get through, or an i to í, î, ī, ï, ì, etc.
Or, just rearranging the letters.
Isht isn't a swear.

But y'all know what it means!
