Sorry to hear about the attack. How did that happen? Do you have a secure coop and run or were they out free ranging? Please do post some pics in the emergency forum and share your story.

Moving forward, your may want to add a few more hens to your flock if you plan to keep the roo. The usual ratio is 1 boy per 10 girls, less than that can lead to over mating, feather loss or possible injury to the hen. Also, about 3 hens would be sufficient to lay enough eggs for a family of 3. When raising a mixed gender flock, be sure to feed an All Flock (not layer feed) and offer oyster shell (calcium) in a separate container for the hens.
