Where to buy BOSS and ACV??

the regular apple cider vinegar from the grocery store is fine for chickens, it is safe for humans and safe for chickens.

Your chickens lay eggs, therefore they are food bearing animals. Plus most of us consider our chickens pets, so we're definitely falling under the don't not feed guidelines according to that label. That label wouldn't be on the bag if those seeds were 'safe.' I'd find another source. If you buy from a feed store you know that the seeds are processed specifically for animals.

On the other hand, if the bag just said not safe for human consumption I wouldn't be AS concerned. Human consumption requires alot more than food processing for animal/pet consumption. And animals can eat things that aren't considered safe for humans (ex: dogs can eat raw meat).

Some BOSS has been treated with a chemical to retard plant growth. It is not good to feed to animals, I wouldn't even feed it to wild birds. Ask at a feed store if the BOSS they sell has been treated. The stuff I buy has not, my pasture proves it. I have sunflowers growing in the horse pasture every summer. The BOSS places like Walmart sell has been treated.

It's gonna take a whole lot more that one pack of seeds to grow enough sunflowers to harvest the seeds for chickens!! Unless your only gonna throw a few to them each day!!
