Which breed do you think is the friendliest? My vote goes for BR's!

I had barred rocks, they were friendly to people, but they picked on the other hens

they were free range too. but that mite just have been mine, I only had 3.

Cochins are very friendly, good mothers and good with other birds. at least the bannys are, I have not met any of the big boys yet.

my Delawares are very friendly too, come right up to me. they even nap in my lap.

My light brahma is my friendliest chicken. Love her to pieces. My other 2 sweeties are my EE and RIR. They fly up onto my arm to get treats. My RIR yesterday flew up on me for my cup of tea. I told her it wasn't for her. She looked at me like "whatcha got?"

It's not really a breed, but my Golden Comets are the friendliest of my bunch. After that, I'd say Orpies.

My SLW's are the meanest things I own! I have Partridge Rocks and they are ok but I have to vote for Orpingtons who in my flock have the most personality and love to share.

I have 24 buff orps. half are the friendliest animals I have ever had, ten are indifferent, and two are flighty twits.
I think it is just like people. the ratio is about right.
It may have to do with rearing them, maybe not. I know that there was on buff that wanted to be held, but was too warry, so I picked her up hugged her close and petted her until she calmed down. Now she is the first in my lap and hates to share me.
The next group I get will be BRs. (They have that Elvis Costello thing going on.) Now that I know they are sweet AND pretty...well, how can one resist?

Hi,

I have 2 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Golden Comets and 2 Bard Rocks. One of the Bard Rocks is the most friendly of the six, the other BR is probably the least friendly, go figure.

My opinons are:

Friendliest bantam: d'uccles

All of my d'uccles are super friendly, they are super easy to handle and hardly ever flighty. They are also easily bribed with food.

Friendliest standard: Cubalaya

From freshly hatched chick to adult, they have a very curious and intuitive nature. Without much handling they are still tame and easy going.

My Light Brahma is so sweet and affectionate. My Black Australorpe is always checking out what I'm doing in the yard...following me around. My silkie loves to be petted. These are the favorites in our little flock. We've also got: an Ameraucana, two Wyanndottes.

As someone earlier mentioned, it sounds like each individual birds has their own personality and may or may not conform to popular belief. We have RIR's, BR's, Buff Orph's and Isa Browns. Our BR's are the least friendly actually not friendly at all nor do they like to be picked up. Our RIR's are the most personable and are happy to be held as are our Buff's and Isa's (except one). I'd trade in the BR's in a heart beat.

I love my sexlinks, they always come running when they see me to greet me...my one red that I have my 6year old daughter carries it around the yard all the time, plays with it on the swings, etc...and it just lets her do whatever...I have had light brahmas too, and I thought they were the most gentle...it may be in the raising? I know people say their BR's are so friendly, but I found the batch that I had not to be...mean rooster, and the hens were nearly impossible to get near, and I was even attacked by one when I went in the coop, still have the scar on my hand from over a year ago...
