If you want lots of eggs, I would recommend black Australorps. They can lay up to 364 eggs a year. They aren't the prettyest things ever, as they are all black. But at least you'll get tons of eggs. And good news is, the are super common, so you can get them pretty much anywhere.
Just so you know, not all Australorp's are Black. I have the breeder ones in Black, Blue, and Splash. As far as the hatchery ones go, Privet's is now selling the Blues in with the Black one's. Yes, the Australorp's are good egg layers, and they can go broody.
