Which breed should I pick??? HELP!!!

Some coloured eggs would be great!!! Do you think an Easter egger would get along with a yorkie? Our dog is lovely with the girls but we did get rid of one chicken that was as constantly harassing him.

I have no clue how they would get along with any dogs. My dogs and my chickens are not allowed to meet lol.

Try out a bunch of different breeds from a hatchery and keep the ones you like. Order more or those and get rid of the rest. With a little time and effort you will find the breed that is just right for you.

I can't recommend Orpingtons enough. My girls have been fantastic egg layers, as well as pets.

If you want lots of eggs, I would recommend black Australorps. They can lay up to 364 eggs a year. They aren't the prettyest things ever, as they are all black. But at least you'll get tons of eggs. And good news is, the are super common, so you can get them pretty much anywhere.

Wyandottes are also Ok layers, but their gorgeous as well. I currently have 7. 3 silver laced and 4 golden laced. But there are lots of colors: black, black laced red, buff, white, columbian, blue laced red, and blue. Beautiful feathers!

If you do want colored eggs, there are lots of breeds to choose from. Easter Eggers lay aqua eggs but some hybrids will lay pink, ameraucanas lay light blue eggs, Olive Eggers lay olive green eggs, and cream legbars will lay light blue eggs. I have 9 Easter eggers and 1 olive egger, as you can see in my signature below.
