we told everyone to be here at 2 for antipasti.

my mother in law offered to come at 12 to help prep everything. we accepted.

that turned into a phone call where she said “i’ll try to be there an hour early to help”

that turned into “i don’t know when i’ll be there so do the apple cider like this, and put the cookies in the oven at this time and…”

which turned into another phone call where she said the whole family was gonna be here at 1:30

and after all that, they showed up at 2:30.
Count your blessings. I married into a family that does the opposite. I hosted a holiday meal once and told everyone dinner would be served at 2 pm. People started showing up at noon, as I was about to step into the shower! There's a lot more to it than that, but we now drive two hours to a fine restaurant and avoid the family altogether. Ahhh, serenity.

Just incase anyone wants to go to the ww2 museum in New Orleans visiting or something. Buy tickets in advance we ended up not going (were 35min from it we can go anytime) before even getting in the door would have been 100.00 closer to $120.00. With parking. Parking was 20.00 first hour and I don't even know what every half hour. For work I park in loading zones or underground. Yep underground there's a underground parking area for delivery trucks. Pretty cool. Think about it a billion restaurants but you never see Parked delivery trucks hmmmmm where are they, anyway when we go to walk around we park in a cheaper lot but it's a ways from the museum.
Pre-purchase or Groupon your tickets. So of course I was aggravated so we didn't go out our way to get the shrimp. Dinty Moore beef stew it is.
