Which came first: the chickens, or.....the coop?

Chicks came first!

Well last year I posted questions about renovating an old shed into a coop. When we tore the siding off the old garden shed it was so obvious that it had to go - the framing was just plain awful and it wasn't really salvageable. We had the new foundation, flooring on when my spouse was laid off.

Well Sunday we started again...foundation and wall framing is up now the siding and roofing are being done this weekend. It's a long weekend in Canada this weekend so DH is working on the rest of the coop while I drive to pick up the chicks on Saturday. They'll have to live in the house for a couple of weeks and then out to the coop. I guess it's the chickens first and coop after for us.

P.S. I am really so excited!

I gotta say...I hadn't expected it to be so lopsided, but I kinda figured most folks got the chickens first.

And here I thought I was being all irresponsible and stuff..

Chicks first. I just keep telling my husband that, "They aren't old enough to go outside yet, honey...." while I dawdle around to finish the coop. Dern rainy days!

I have the coop 75% completed. Just yesterday I picked up my chicks, two weeks old. The coop will be completed within the week, in plenty of time.
