Which chicken breed have you found to be the friendliest?

I checked out the articles on the different chicken breeds and almost all of them were listed as friendly LOL. I have had Two leghorns and one barred rock. Both are friendly and we’ve had them for several years, But all of them are skittish about being held. I know this is normal chicken behavior but are there any types that you’ve had that just seem extra friendly And even seem to enjoy being handled than others? Or, do you find that it really just depends on the particular chickens personality or perhaps how much you have handled them as They have grown?

I think it depends more on the individual chicken than the breed.

The most friendly girl I've ever had was a RSL (red sex link). That girl would follow me everywhere and whenever I sat down, she had to sit on my lap. My lap was her favorite place to take a nap :D

The girl we had that was friendliest with my husband was a RIR. That little gal thought DH was her best human friend. She didn't mind me, but once DH showed up, she'd be jumping up in his arms.

I love my brahmas.
They’re very friendly, docile and quiet, they follow me around when I’m out working in the garden. Mine will jump up and sit on your lap if you’re sat anywhere near them.
They’re also good egg layers and make great broody mothers being able to cover extra eggs as they’re so big.
I’m planning on breeding mine this year, here’s some photos :)

This. :goodpost: We can recommend the life out of specific breeds, and there's still great possibility of a rotten apple. For example, endless rave reviews elevating Silkies, Orpingtons, and Cochins will be found everywhere....have mine been pleasant? Far from it. :hmm My Andalusian and Leghorns (notoriously flighty, with rather bad reputations) are doll babies. :love

That said, Speckled Sussex might possibly be one of the most consistently "friendly" breeds out there. Have yet to find a single negative comment about them. Precious, affectionate, curious birds. :love

Mainly, it does depend on the temperament of the individual bird, the majority of chickens I've owned have been friendly in at least some ways, but I did get a flighty one every now and then. However, this does not mean they will be nice to their flock mates. My buff orpington hen is very friendly to me, in fact, sometimes too friendly; she'll peck me until I give her what she wants, usually she wants to be held, and by the tone of that rude, demanding little voice, I sometimes wonder she's saying to me in chicken language. Although, she's quite a meany to my buff brahma hen who hatched and raised her, and most often she has an attitude to the rest of the flock too. But I still love her, she's a very funny chicken. As a general statement, I have found standard size brahmas and cochins, as well as silkies to be the friendliest.
