Which hatchery?

I would buy from murray or Ideal. we got 27 chicks from meyers, & we have 5 still living for now, but we're not sure all of them will make it.

no infected birds here! grown up and all laying very well!

I'm going to say that Meyer has good quality birds BUT it depends what you are looking for. I've seen several threads and myself experienced slow-feathering columbian wyandotte pullets. Other columbian wyandotte pullets are single comb. So I wouldn't say the breeding stock is quality for that particular color/breed.

They're pretty standard for a hatchery and I haven't had any chicks die on me despite having only 7 chicks to an order. They have the small-order shipping down pat and I have had no health issues with either set of birds.

Wherever you order chicks from, why not spend the few dollars more and get them sexed? That way you get the number of females you want and any males you want. You won't have to put up with, what will I end up eventually when they get bigger?

If you order from a hatchery breeding stock quality wont be that high, remember they sell almost a million chicks a year and get the cheapest purebreed eggs they can find.

Working very, very hard to NOT replace the 2 I just re-homed so that I can adopt breeder culls in the spring... no chicken math... no chicken math...
