Ok, I feel silly asking this but...What is a DP?

never a silly question . . . well actually my husband asks quite a few!
DP is Dual Purpose, birds that are raised as layers and then eaten as they get older along with the spare roos.

What kind of DP best for meat? I am leaning toward New Hampshire, but hard to find the original stock around here.

a lot of different opinions on that. do some reading off back posts here on the meat bird thread, you will get an eyefull! the biggest I have had in that category are the Barred Rock.
