White bearded Silkie...think he has the potential to be SQ????????????

Hard to tell from these pics, but it looks like the 4th & 5th toe separation could be better. But I was also told by experts that the judges don't really care much about that.

If you look at the standard, and also look at how points are allocated, it makes it easier to decide which traits are more or less important.

i was told the third main toe that does not have any feathering is a bad trait that does breed over into new chicks

The middle and outer toes must be feathered, the inner toe does not have to be feathered.

Thank you for the info, so then my little guy's feathering is ok then right?

The standards are not really expensive unless you choose to get the full colour APA standard. The b&W APA standard is I think $14 and the partially coloured ABA standard is $35. A quality silkie will cost you more.

Yes, his feathering is ok, pretty good actually.

You can purchase a standard on the APA site here: http://www.amerpoultryassn.com/APA_ShoppingMall3.htm Unfortunately the black and white version is out of stock.

You can get the ABA standard here: http://www.bantamclub.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=1_17
