Hi.. It sound like coryza or MG. I know you have it quantined but make you wash your handds, change boots and even jumper after holding the poorly chicken because if it is one of them diseases your other chickens will catch it and have it for life. I know about this because my flock of 15 have MG and are now a closed flock. I would take her back if it is too. Im so sorry hun and hope its not. Theres a lot of good people here who will be able to give you a good diagnosis.. Tracy. Xxx

thanks for your answer, i too hope it is not, just another note yesterday when i bought her home i smothered her in mite powder could this have a affect on her eye and breathing?, she dont seem to be gasping for air of making any nosies why breathing only she keeps her mouth open (not all of tim e)like she is dying for a drink bit like how chickens are in hot weather, she is very active and doesnt look like a ill chcicken, im going to buy some jeyes fluid to disinfect every where, also have made some garlic water for all 3 to drink to help there imune system, i just hoping she has not got it any other advice will be greatfull thanks

Hi keith, it was the bubbles in the eyes that made me think the worse as thats a classic symptom of coryza or MG. It could of been the dust off the powder like you said.. Has she got mites ? I would treat her for wormes too, Flubenvet is good wormer but only sold here in the UK /Ireland... If she starts getting discharge from the nose and starts sneezing i would start her on a course of antibiotics but only if you know what it is..
Do you know the person you got her off because you need to have a word with them and ask if he has any chickens showing the same thing..
Do you have any chicken vitamins as she could be stressed with moving into a new home. Apple Cider Vinegar is great for chickens it will perk her immune system up..
Im in all day today if you need any more advice.. Tracy...

hi tracy
the eye seems to have stopped (no bubbles or discharge) but the same side she seems to have a slight discharge from the nostril, have cleaned it but still seems to be coming out, shes eating well very active, but still doesnt seem to want to drink, by way tracy thanks for all your help so far keith (have bought Apple Cider Vinegar) forgot yes she has red mites

hi only have human antibiotics 'amoxicilin'
the symptons are as follows

opening mouth like as if gasping for air (like a hen does in very hot summer) but not all the time
bubberling from right eye (only first thing this morn now stopped)
right nostril running slightly (still doing it) wife thinks there is funny smell from the discharge once on tissue
she also smells a bit funny on body but maybe because come from a big flock

she eating ok, her poo seems ok, now drinking ACV water, still very lively and acting normal,

Just afraid not for her to have something serious to infect other 2 girls

When i got a buff orpington from a large flock she smelt horrible, i gave her a bath and used baby shampoo or a gentle shampoo and the blow dried her off on a warm heat. I think they feel a bit better once fresh lol..
Theres a guy called Dawg53 who is realy good at diagnosing, i will try and message him for you.. I dont want you to go ahead and give her amoxicilin without advice first.. I work in a human pharmacy lol so im going to message my boss..
She does need some sort of antibiotics..

I will get back in touch dont worry.. Ive been through it all before lol...Tracy...
