My chicken has tiny white bugs around her eyes only. She wouldn't open one eye. So I sprayed Vetericyn in that eye. The next day it was open, but then I noticed tiny white bugs in both eyes. Is there a cream that would get rid of them? And what are they?
Welcome to BYC. Do you have a picture? They can help. It could be lice, and usually you can see white clumps of lice eggs on the abse of feathers. Permethrin 10 spray or the Poultry And Garden Dust from TSC and other feed stores can help, but don’t put it near the eyes. Pour on Ivermectin could also be used, but it has an egg withdrawal time. Dosage is 0.1 ml per every 2 pounds placed on the skin on the base of the neck along the spine. Repeat it in 14 days. Toss eggs for a total of 28 days.
The permethrin 10 below is mixed 37 ml per gallon of water, and an 8 ounce container is $8. The dust may be better in cold weather. Apply it once every 7-10 days at least twice.
