A few days ago I woke up to let my 6 week old chicks out and 4 of them were ganging up one one of them. They completely scalped her. It was just open muscle in the top of her head. I tried to clean it up and I’m keeping her inside with me while she heals. About two days ago I noticed this white fuz at the base of her feathers in one or two spots. It looks similar to white mold or something. Does anyone know what this could be?? The white thing on her head is just a wood chip stuck to her injury. I’m referring to the white thing on her back

It's not real clear in the photos, but it appears it may be nits - lice eggs. Permethrin poultry dusting powder or Elector PSP can take care of the infestation. The lice eggs will hatch at a later date and need another round of treatment.

The nits are "cemented" onto the feathers, and won't just fall off after treatment. They can be yanked out and new feathers will grow in their place, or you will need to wait until next molt for them to fall out.
