I haI live in South Central Pa, not sure if that is important or not..

There are always ducks & geese nearby, hanging out in water-retention ponds & such, even through winter. Lately there is a white goose all alone, do they breed for life? I always feel bad for it when I drive by, in this huge water-retention pond, with no other geese to be found.

Just curious!
Thanks

I have read that geese mate for life. In a way that's sweet and awful at the same time. It's really hard on them I imagine when they lose their mates.

If it is a domestic goose that got dumped and is all alone...it won't stand too much of a chance on it's own. I agree with Lydia and a couple others: This sounds like a potential rescue operation. Poor thing.
