white grainy substance on hens feathers

My dark Cornish hen has white grainy stuff at the base of her feathers. Any help is much appreciated!

Looks to me like possibly lice. Check out the above website to see if she displays any of the symptoms listed. Let me know if I can be of further help.

What is the best way to treat lice? Non of my others have it yet

Permethrin spray or powder, and Sevin dust are the best treatments killing lice instantly. The white eggs hatch within 10 days, and will have to be treated. The coop, nest boxes and roosts have to be emptied, sprayed , and new bedding added. Here is some info on lice and mites:
