Here are some update pictures of my recent white sports. The pictures were taken in the sun with a wind blowing while it was in the upper 30s for temperatures. So they were huddled and I had to take the pictures quickly.

White sport cockerel that was hatched on February 28. He now weighs 6.3 ounces.

White sport pullet was hatched on March 8. She now weighs 3.6 ounces.

Enjoy!

Aloha kākou,

So I have a white hen who is homozygous for the white gene(or noncolor) and since I have a white chick, the rooster must be heterozygous. So theoretically, 50% of offspring should be white sports. True?

In theory. Let us know!
I have been reading some of these threads for while & decided it was time to stop lurking :)

I am in New Zealand & as far as I know we don't have and CLB's here.
I am doing a load of research with the longterm intention to get some

Yes:) but sometimes the white ones don't make it...which can skew numbers.

I cant find the post about the feathering on white sports MALE VS FEMALE....

Do sports feather the same or do females grow faster and do I see upper back feathers on females first too? I sold all of mine as day/week olds and I cant remember from the others from a few months ago!
Thanks!

So cool,

Jenny - there is someone in Australia that is working on Cream Legbars -- a little closer than the USA. Hope you get your CLs before too long.

Not Rob Patterson? I saw a cpl of posts from him on a different site & it looked like he had come to many of the same conclusions I have. Would love to find out how hes getting on :)

Oops, I had posted a link to the other poultry thread that Rob was on & its in the rules that we can't advertise competing sites. (makes sense but I skimmed that stuff lol)
I managed to get in touch :)
A Down Under CLB group could be a good idea!

Aloha kākou,

I think I found the roo with the recessive gene. just got 3 more about a week ago. Still having a hard time on sexing them. Also having a hard time taking pictures. Any ideas?
