Who else got some 2013 chicks?!

I went against my own rule this year and bought chicks instead of hatching them. We started with 3 red sex link pullets and 8 ducklings, my son went back the following week and got 6 assorted bantams, strait runs and then a Facebook friend messaged me about 2 days later and told me about her 16 year old brother going to buy 6 silver laced wyandotte chicks (sp?) that he could not keep and want me to take them, and we did.

So that ended up being 15 chicks and 8 ducks

So yesterday we (my 11 yr old and my self) go to TS to pick up a few things and he sees that they have in new bantams and ducklings. So we came out with 4 more assorted bantams and 2 ducklings.

We are OFFICIALLY chicked and ducked out! LOL

NO MORE FOR THE NEXT FEW YEARS, we have not more room.

We got six "red pullets" on April 1 and DH sold two of those to make room for some EE chicks. April 6 and we have four EE pullets. We think the four red girls are ISA Browns, but one is very much different than the others. She is developing faster feathers but the same age and size. At least we hope they are all pullets!

Today I found a nest in a pile of leaves. I have wild chickens in my yard and one of them had a nest. I think the mother abandoned the nest because I haven't seen any for a couple days and she wasn't there at all today. This morning I went outside and found two chicks walking around I thought they lost their mother until I found the nest an hour later with more chicks. I saw that ants were crawling around them so I gave in and took them now I have six kikiriki's they are bantam mixes and if the others in the nest survive tonight I'll have around 9 in total. I would have taken the other four chicks but two aren't fully out yet and two haven't absorbed the yolk? I'm not sure because when I went to take them I saw like a yellowish or orangish thing attached to its chest area. I hope they survive I didnt want to interfere and make it worse.

Well I just checked the nest and the two that I thought didn't absorb the yolk well idk what happened. I think the intestines are coming out a little cause I can see some of its insides out of it by there bottom

. But I found three eggs that are hatching a little. One of them is almost out and two only have peep holes in them and I can hear them all peeping. I brought the three inside and put them under the light. Gah I hope they survive

last night three eggs hatched so now i have ten in total.
there is:
1 chick that has a red tinted head with tints of red in the feathers along the body
1 that is black and yellow
4 that look like a chipmunk except three are very light colored like that and one is dark
4 that are black and white that remind me of little penguins
they are so cute!

I got six chicks at Tractor Supply yesterday. They're about 2 weeks old, per the folks at TS. I have three different breeds- 2 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Rock Cornish, and 2 of another red breed but not sure which. I have a large aquarium as a brooder in my home office. I've named 3 of them so far the biggest and the one that appears to be the leader is Leona, the smallest is Millie and one of the Rock cornish is Marie.

This is my first experience with chicks and I am loving it. They are so much fun to watch. They peck the glass bottom of the tank, run at their reflections in the glass, fall asleep standing up or with their beaks in the feeder. And they peep all the while they are awake. My only complaint is that I can't keep the pine shavings out of their water.
