The one in your hand looks like a leghorn, which is a layer breedI got six chicks at Tractor Supply yesterday. They're about 2 weeks old, per the folks at TS. I have three different breeds- 2 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Rock Cornish, and 2 of another red breed but not sure which. I have a large aquarium as a brooder in my home office. I've named 3 of them so far the biggest and the one that appears to be the leader is Leona, the smallest is Millie and one of the Rock cornish is Marie. This is my first experience with chicks and I am loving it. They are so much fun to watch. They peck the glass bottom of the tank, run at their reflections in the glass, fall asleep standing up or with their beaks in the feeder. And they peep all the while they are awake. My only complaint is that I can't keep the pine shavings out of their water. :/ Here are a couple of photos.![]()
