Who Else Has A Broody In January!?!?!

I received a dozen eggs today from a wonderful friend in Texas. Jethro and Ellie Mae, my two silkies that are currently sitting on golf balls, are going to be delighted with their new brood.

I don't have a lot of experience, maybe 5 broodies, but I've read of hens hatching chicks in hay lofts and the chicks jumping or flying down on their own. Mama will just make a nest for them to sleep somewhere else at night. When I've tried to move them they've freaked and tried to get back to the old nest, regardless of the eggs now being in the new nest. I did move one right after the chicks hatched and mama accepted that. (Actually they weren't through hatching.)

No one is going to believe this, but I have 3 of my 4 EEs that have gone broody! Unfortunately, one of them is camera shy and walked off the nest as I was positioning the camera. I do have a pic of her though, just not on the nest yet. I will try tomorrow to get a pic of her on the nest.
Here are Popcorn & Fried and you can see Nugget's pile of eggs between Popcorn(closer) & Fried(further away):

Here is the best picture I have so far of Nugget, taken back in December:

Livinwright, your EE's are very pretty, Nugget looks just like two EE's I used to have.

I hope my Blue Ameraucana is the dad to these babies she is sitting on. Oh pretty pretty please

Dixieangel, any chance at some pics? She sounds quite fluffy!

My Sebright went broody last Saturday. She had 5 eggs. I candled them last nite and only one is developing and moving. I replaced the other 4 duds with new eggs. I hope the egg makes it. I will candle the new 4 next weekend. The developing egg will be a black cochin/lavender EE chick. ...I think....
I have a Sultan, 2 cochins, an EE and a Sebright...and an EE roo. All bantams.

Hi! I post this on a new post but I thought I would post here as well to see if you all that have broodies could help me:

I have a broody silkie, and this is our first broody. She has been sitting on the eggs for 11 days now. I orignally put 8 eggs under her. Twice now, I have found one of the eggs busted and nothing left but part of the shell. The first time I had not yet isolated her, so I assumed one of the other birds had messed with her nest. No big deal. We have since isolated her.

This morning I let her out for her morning poop. I noticed one of the eggs was missing except for a few pieces of shell. My question is this: the remaining eggs are sticky now; will this hurt the remaining eggs? What shoud I do?

Thanks.

Well, this is hatch day for me. 4 out and chirping, one of them wanting to leave the nest already, and 3 in various stages of zipping or pipping. I set them on a Monday about this time of day so I guess this is day 20. That's 100%!

And I did the evil deed again. I patched up my broody pen, inside my coop, and moved the whole lot of them, a few minutes ago.

Mama wasn't even fazed, just settled down on her kiddies. They are mutts; mama is a 3 year old EE who never went broody before.

Early this AM when I unfroze their water, one of them was poking out to look; it's since been running circles around mama in the nest. She had the most hilarious look on her face, like what the heck is this thing under me??? Just now the expression was more, I'm queen for the day, of course. A rare thing for me -- I wished I had a camera.
