Who else is on lock down?

I turn my second batch of BBS and Buff eggs for the last time tonight and lockdown will begin... or is that countdown? My first batch of eggs are due to hatch today though so I'm glued to the bator hoping to see something.

Yesssss FINALLY... one lonely pip a couple of hours ago. No progress since then however. But I know the chick is still alive. I can watch the pip hole and see it move back and forth from time to time. But I don't hear it (or any others) cheeping. None of the eggs are rocking and rolling as I expected either. But hey! I have a pip! *Grins* I'll be up all night now waiting for that little bugger to start zipping and hatching. If all of these hatch I'll have a hatch rate of 11 out of 14. Darn good turn out for shipped eggs and my very first hatch!!! These are BBS orpingtons.

ETA:
I just locked down my second hatch. This batch isn't doing quite as well as the first. But, I'm at almost 50% if they all hatch so I'm still pleased with that rate for my first time hatching and them being shipped eggs. It looks like I have 6 normally developed eggs/chicks on this batch out of 13. Not bad! If these all hatch I should have 4 buff and 2 BBS opringtons out of this hatch.

Well, so far I have ONE silkie chick. I do not think I am a big success as a hatcher.

It is rather discouraging.

At least my two little Seramas are doing well.

Not much happened here over night. Still only the one pipped egg. It has began zipping I think. It didn't make much progress yet. It looks like 2 holes side by side right now. I could still see the chick move a hour or so ago. But no movement right this moment. I guess it must be resting? Nothing on the other eggs yet. Hopefully I'll see more action today.

Well, I put my little gray Silkie in the box with his new friends, the two Serama chicks. The little Silkie has black skin! I guess I knew that but I forgot. He is already bigger than the Serama chicks.

When he cheeps loudly they come over and stare at him and then peck him. (Not enough to do any harm.)

Anyway they are funny.

I truly hope I get some more but hope is dwindling.

Nothing yet, but there was tons of movement when I locked them down.

Its day 21 for me.. I dont really think any of them are going to hatch *sigh* I havent heard any peeps or anything.. I candled a few days ago and saw movement in a few of them, so IDK..

Just give them some time. Mine didn't really start until the beginning of day 22. Half way through the day and still not alot going on. I have one that completely hatched. One that pipped yesterday and still only has a thumb size hole. And two that have pipped but haven't seen any other movement from them in several hours now. Either these chickies are SLOW or they're just not ready to come out yet. The one that did hatch, pipped, zipped, and hatch in under 20 minutes. LOL... I wish the others would move like that.
