Who else is waiting the impossible wait?

Well while I was in class today, my mom heard the egg song from one of the coops. Not sure which one, but she thinks the one with the EE and Barred Rock who are 24 weeks old. Neither looks ready to me, but my Brahma does, so maybe it was her. But SOMEBODY SANG IT! LOL that counts for something, right?

AAAH! I haven't read through all 88 pages of responses (!!!), but my girls are 18 weeks old on Monday. I have 11 Buff Orpingtons, and 11 Plymouth White Rocks. I have been reading where most peoples BO's usually are later bloomers than other chickens (anywhere from 20-26 weeks on average) but what about the White Rocks? I am most impatiently waiting too! I heard the chicken song the other morning and went running, but NOTHING! My girls are starting squatting when you pet them, but I AM SOOO VERY EXCITED! Will post pics when we get them!

Ive been waiting for a while now

Does anyone know when my bantams will start to lay? I have an oeg bantam, a booted bantam, and sebrights.

Be patient (Ha not that I was!) and the eggs will start coming. My 25 girls are at I believe 19 and 23 wks now and since they started laying on the 8th I have gotten a total of 53 eggs! I love the sound of that. I got 8 yesterday so I know at least 8 have started to lay. The #'s have been up and down but they're coming and it's exciting as all get out!!! I just now finished off four eggs I scrambled for lunch. I'm telling you I can't remember when eggs tasted this good. I was buying fresh eggs from a girlfriend and they were good but mine are wonderful, of course. I've been keeping them on the counter in a crockery bowl so I can see them since I know they don't HAVE to be refrigerated for a while when they're fresh. I haven't refrigerated any of mine yet. I gace the first cartoned dozen to my dd and the second to my neighbor who brings us his fresh baked cookies. I'm tellin you, you have never seen such a pretty yolk as when you crack open your first home grown eggs. You'll see!!! You'll see!!! Anyone know where/how I can get the egg song as my cell phone ringer?? I'd love that!!

can anyone tell me when yours started laying and about how much time left of waiting do i have

My Australorp is 22 weeks-ish. She squatted for me the first time on Sunday when I tried to pet her, so I guess an egg will soon be here. She's also been really "clingy" the past couple of weeks--follows me around and wants to hop up on my lap.

The golden comet is about 20 weeks now and is starting to redden in her comb and wattles.

The EE and the SLW 20-week-olds still have fairly shell-pinkish combs and and wattles, but they don't have prominent ones, anyway.

I can hardly wait!
