My kitchen is all natural wood colored cabinets and white walls. When we moved in here last Feb. and learned that the washer/dryer hook-ups are in the kitchen I immeadaitely started getting red kitchen acsessories because my LG steamwasher and dryer on pedestals are both candy apple red and you cannot miss them in my kitchen, so my teapot is red (also kitchenaid, you cannot go wrong with the brand), my mixer is red because I never put it away so I wanted something pretty, I'm even eyeing a red toaster and coffee maker right now too.... I also put up red and white check tab top curtains. I kept all the furniture and cabinets natural wood and white paint and brought color in with useful things.
Buying my mixer was a big deal for me. I cringed when I brought it to the check out, I think I paid around $350 for mine at Bed, Bath, and Beyond but I was SO excited to have it! I have made some great ribbon winning things with it, you cannot go wrong making bread, pie crusts, cheesecakes, etc. Considering that I now sell my baked goods locally, by end of next summer I think it will have paid for itself just with selling my Zucchini/Banana breads.
Boys have their toys, cars, tools, big screen TV's, video game systems, etc. Why can't we have ours? I have my LG washer and dryer (paid over $3K for the pair and their pedestals when they first came out) and my kitchen aid mixer. My husband dies laughing at me shining my washer/dryer and my mixer but I take good care of them!
