I have duck fever too.... so don't feel bad. I have a gift certificate to Metzer's and I am practicing severe restraint by not picking up and ordering now. It's a good thing I can't decide on which breed I want or I would have ordered already. Love my ducks!

I do, I do. I just picked up 5 muscovy ducklings even though I still need to sell my 12 runners. Hmm. Probably a bad idea but......

You asking the wrong people to help you curtail your addiction.

I have six. That's all for this year. Already have a couple I wants for next year....but actually sat down to compute what it costs a month in relation to how many eggs we get, and eventually can sell (maybe), with cost of feed, etc. With three unplanned for drakes, who I just can't seem to part with (they seem to have the best personalities), the reality is raising our own eggs is not saving us any money.....shhhhh...don't tell my husband. And with only one hen laying....two more too come in November maybe (they are only 2 months old now). The raise ducks for eggs excuse has turned into raise ducks for eggs and (even more so) amusement.

I look forward to my early morning go out and feed and let the ducks out. It's the most relaxing, peaceful time of my day. Besides it makes me laugh and smile to hear them chattering as one big group first thing in the morning (the drakes are housed separately at night).

Absolutely love ducklings

Just remember that they grow up. Not that they aren't still cute all grown up, but they make that much more of a mess. We have 20 ducks and 4 geese. When our scovy hatched her eggs I was so relieved when we sold them all.

Thank you for the kind words. This year's hatch was a lot of males.
